Klaviyo - Setting up your integration
Note: this feature is available for stores in the Premium and Enterprise plans.
Klaviyo is an automated marketing platform that helps improve the way you interact with your customers. Through the integration between Govalo and Klaviyo, you gain further control over your Govalo emails, being able to customize and take your customers' experience to the next level.
A few things you need to know about this integration:
- You must follow this and subsequent guides in order first to connect Govalo and Klaviyo; then create the necessary flows in Klaviyo; and finally, configure Govalo to send the email events to Klaviyo.
- While we have guides for the different flows you can create in Klaviyo, it's not mandatory to create all of them. For example, if you use Govalo's Gift Cards feature and don't use Subscription Gifts, you may set up the Gift Cards flow alone. Similarly, because the email for each of our features is managed separately, you can have one going through Klaviyo (e.g. Gift Cards), and still use our default emails for other features (e.g. Store Credit).

Connect Govalo and Klaviyo
Here's how you can connect Govalo and Klaviyo:
1 - In Klaviyo, create a private API key with Full Access to Events (you can refer to the steps on Creating a private API key).
2 - In the Govalo app, go to Integrations, then click Configure Klaviyo.
3 - Paste the private API key you created in Klaviyo in the corresponding field, click Save, then click Enable, as indicated in the image below:
Your Govalo and Klaviyo accounts should be connected now, but you still have a few more steps to go through before your emails start to flow through Klaviyo.
Set up your Flows and email templates in Klaviyo
A Klaviyo Flow is a sequence of events that will be triggered by an event. You must create flows in Klaviyo for the events sent to it by Govalo, so you can create a template for your Govalo emails and have them sent by Klaviyo. Below you'll find a list of the flows you can create in Klaviyo to handle the events sent by Govalo:
- Gift Card flow and template
- Store Credit flow and template
- Subscription Gift flow and template
- Gift Product flow and template
- Gift Card Reminder flow and template
Remember: if you are not using a given Govalo feature, like Subscription Gifts, you don't need to set up that flow in Klaviyo.
Configure Govalo to send emails to Klaviyo
After Govalo and Klaviyo are connected, and you have created your flows in Klaviyo, make sure to configure Govalo so it sends emails to Klaviyo.
