Security | Fraud Prevention

To assist with fraud prevention, we block cards from being issued on high risk orders, orders with a specific tag (from a fraud App) or gift cards being purchased by gift cards.

Toggle feature on:

Within the configure section of Govalo, select Security

Enable and save

Once this happens, we add a slight delay to our Gift Card Creation flow to allow time for Shopify, and any other Fraud Check app to verify an order. We now have a few different scenarios where we will disable a gift card:

1. If the Shopify risk feature determines the order has a risk score above 75 (this is denoted as high risk in Shopify). We issue the card, but it is disabled upon issue. This allows you to track what happened within Govalo (you'll see a note on the timeline within Govalo).

2. If a customer is attempting to purchase a gift card with a gift card - we do not allow this action; therefore, we set a fraud risk on the order; again we issue but disable the card so it cannot be used, but you can track what has happened within the order:

3. If an App sets a high fraud risk, we follow the same process of issuing and disabling.

Next, if you have an app that adds a custom tag to an order that detects fraud, you can add that tag to Govalo, and we will follow the same flow.

Add the tag, save, and we will check for this tag before issuing a card sold on the storefront.
